November Build and Skills Firework Challenge
It’s November and it’s time for a new Build and Skills challenge.
After the amazing result from the Pumpkin carving, we’re really excited to see what amazing firework displays you can come up with.
As usual, you start of by choosing one of the plots by clicking on the sign. You can only chose one plot, but they are all the same.
You have a workshop which contains a crafting station, a chest and a command block.
- use the crafting station to craft fireworks
- use the chest to store your fireworks
- use the command block to copy your chest – this means you don’t have to craft as many fireworks to make a big display
Next, you need to craft your fireworks. There are 2 stages to this –
- First, create a firework star – you do this with gunpowder and a mix of colours. You can also change the shape by adding Golden nuggets, Minecraft Heads and a Feather, although you can add as many colours but only one special item. You can also add a Diamond and this will give your firework a trail effect.
- When you collect your firework star, it will have all the properties (colours, shapes) you set. You can add it back to the crafting table and add fade effects by adding more colours to it.
- Next, we can make the firework by adding gunpowder, paper and your firework star. Using different amounts of gunpowder (up to 3) gives you more height in your firework.
Now add your completed fireworks to the chest and lets move onto the redstone.
There are 3 redstone mechanisms to make –
- A redstone clock. This lets a redstone pulse circle around a circuit that you can connect to trigger other redstone devices.
- A light sensor – Place the sensor with a trail of redstone from it.
- An ‘AND’ gate – An electrical mechanism which will give an output, only when both inputs are triggered together.
Your dispenser should now be added to the end of the circuit and when both the triggers are activated a firework will be thrown out of the dispenser. You may need to use a chain of hoppers to connect your chest to your dispenser.
Now the only thing left to do is decorate your plot. Make it special so the fireworks look like they are being shot out of a canon, or the mouth of a dragon, or anything you can think of. Be creative, based on last month we know you are.
